BRIGHTON, Tenn – On 14 June 2016 at about 4:45 AM, the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 block of Dawn Lane in Brighton regarding a home invasion.  The homeowner, John Sanders, Jr., reported he heard a knock at the door and, when he answered the door, two male suspects forcibly entered the residence.  One suspect was wearing a bandana over his face and armed with a pipe and the second suspect was armed with an AR-15 assault rifle.  The duo demanded money of Sanders.  During the incident, Sanders was struck in the arm and upper torso by the suspect armed with the pipe.  The suspects made away with cash, jewelry, and a spotting scope.  The suspects fled to an awaiting dark colored vehicle and picked up a third suspect positioned down the road.  Deputies were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description in the area.  Sanders received minor injuries during the incident and his wife was uninjured.

Detectives interviewed the suspects, who admitted to their role in the home invasion.  During the investigation, detectives canvassing the 300 block of Holly Grove Road recovered a replica AR-15 pellet gun.  The trio, who remain in custody, will be formally charged tomorrow for Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Burglary, and Theft of Property Over $1000.00 in Tipton County General Session Court.
